Inderjit Singh (22), younger brother of AAP state unit’s vice-president Dilbagh Singh and a student of the SGGS World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, committed suicide by jumping before a train at the Sirhind railway station on Thursday.
Before committing suicide, he uploaded a post on Facebook mentioning that he was committing suicide on his own will and no one should be held responsible. However, family members alleged that the police were harassing him by involving him in a false case and under stress, he jumped before the train.
Sukhwinder Singh, SHO, Railway Police Station, said they have registered a case on the statement of the family members and an investigation was on.
Amarjit Singh, deceased’s father, said his wife had some money-related dispute with some persons and a case was registered but they were acquitted by the court. However, the opposite party again gave another application against his wife and son and the Economic Offence Wing was conducting an inquiry.
He alleged that the police were calling them to office repeatedly and they used to keep sitting there throughout the day. They were being pressurised to strike a compromise. He said Inderjit was under stress. AAP vice-president Dilbagh Singh has sought a thorough probe and action against the guilty.
