Accusing Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh of phone tapping and intimidating police officers, Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Khaira on Tuesday asked the Election Commission of India to appoint a pro tem CM till the conduct of the Shahkot bypoll.
“To check that the CM doesn’t misuse his seat, the ECI should appoint the senior-most minister of the government in his place,” said Khaira in a press meet here. He also circulated the copies of his memorandum citing six demands given to Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Rawat.
His other demands included shifting of investigation into the FIR out of Punjab for an impartial inquiry and deployment of central paramilitary forces for the polling.
