New Delhi, May 9
Prominent Sikh personalities, including intellectuals, on Wednesday pitched for the inclusion of Sikh-related historical aspects in the history books of the NCERT, school boards and universities across the country.
They urged the Centre to constitute a high-powered committee to conduct a study and make recommendations in the matter. Former Vice-Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities and Rajya Sabha MP, Tarlochan Singh, suggested that the Centre should rope in intellectuals for the proposed committee.
He said, “It is ironical that although Sikhs have contributed immensely to the country’s progress, many are unaware of it.” — TNS
