Notice to Kolianwali, kin over Rs 79-lakh loan default

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, May 9

The Cooperative Department on Wednesday issued a notice to senior SAD leader Dyal Singh Kolianwali and his family to deposit the outstanding loan of nearly Rs 79 lakh. They have been asked to deposit the amount by May 23, failing which arrest warrants would be issued against all defaulters.

Since Kolianwali and his family refused to receive the notice, it was pasted at their house.

The move follows suspension of the manager of Punjab Agricultural Development Bank (PADB), Malout, for his failure to recover the loan amount from the SAD leader and his family members.

Sukhjinder Randhawa, Cooperation Minister, said as part of the drive to recover loan amounts from big landlords, who owed huge amounts to the co-operative and agricultural development banks, the family of another defaulter, Jagdish Raj Sahni, had deposited Rs 20.9 lakh, 25 per cent of loan taken from Gurdaspur Central Cooperative Bank.

Randhawa said the Assistant Registrar of the Co-operative Societies, Malout, had issued a notice to Kolianwali for depositing the total amount of Rs 39,00,678, including principal amount and interest.

Similarly, his wife Amarjit Kaur has been told to deposit Rs 35,57,021 and son Parminder Singh Rs 4,62,717.
