Sangrur, May 10
Residents protested and blocked the Jakhal-Sunam road on Thursday. They were demanding the arrest of the killers of brick kiln owner Ashok Kumar Bansal, who died on April 29 after battling for life for 25 days.
Earlier, the protesters had blocked the same road on April 29.
After assurance from the police for prompt action, the locals lifted their dharna. But they have announced to intensify their protest if the police fail to arrest the accused.
“The police have failed to arrest the killers despite their promise on April 29 to arrest them within a week. We have called a meeting of the action committee tomorrow to take a final decision,” said Sandeep Kumar, a local councillor.
DSP Moonak Ajay Pal did not answer calls on his mobile phone.
